Minister Winton has a long and proud connection to education in Western Australia. Before entering Parliament in 2017 as the Member for Wanneroo, she was a dedicated teacher for 27 years, working in schools across our state — from Fitzroy Crossing to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands — and later as a PEAC coordinator supporting gifted and talented students.
Since being elected, Minister Winton has continued her deep commitment to children, families, and communities through a range of leadership roles in Cabinet.
As both an educator and leader, she brings an authentic understanding of the difference great teaching and strong school leadership make in the lives of young people.
