As we find ourselves hurtling through another term, the ACEL National Conference looms on the horizon, offering an invaluable opportunity for educational leaders like you to participate. The conference, as always, boasts an impressive lineup of speakers and provides a platform for networking with peers. However, this year is particularly special, as ACEL commemorates a significant milestone - our 50th anniversary. This occasion prompts us to pause, reflect on our journey thus far, acknowledge our achievements, and, with eager anticipation and curiosity, chart a course for the next fifty years of educational leadership.
The conference kicks off on Tuesday, September 26th, at 5 pm with a pre-conference networking event at the Southbank Beer Garden, a mere 7-minute stroll from the Brisbane Convention Centre. The venue details are as follows: River Room, Shop 30BA, Stanley Street Plaza, South Brisbane QLD 4101.

During term 3, the ACEL SA state branch has hosted two enriching workshops. We began with our second Book Club meeting and followed it up with an inspiring presentation on "Leading School Improvement and Culture Change in Primary Schools." Bec Clements and Grant Small, both esteemed leaders with extensive experience spanning the independent and public sectors, expertly facilitated this enlightening session. They graciously shared their leadership journeys, sources of inspiration, hurdles they've surmounted, and their vision for the next leg of their leadership journey. Be sure to watch our Term 4 events, as they promise to be equally insightful and beneficial.
Over the past six years, I have had the distinct privilege of serving as the ACEL SA State President and National Board member. This journey has been nothing short of remarkable, providing me with countless opportunities for personal growth and a platform to celebrate the outstanding work of South Australian leaders. I've been fortunate to have the unwavering support of Mark Simpson and Bev Rodgers, who, like me, have dedicated the same amount of time to the Branch Executive. As per ACEL's governance structure, we are limited to two tenures in our positions, and regrettably, our time has come to an end. At the upcoming National Conference, the new branch executive will be announced. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all ACEL members for your steadfast support and active participation in our branch events. Your commitment to continuous improvement and your unwavering support for our association have played a pivotal role in our state's success.
Looking ahead, I am eager to continue my involvement with ACEL, albeit in a different capacity. I am confident that our incoming executive team will provide exceptional support and opportunities for professional development in the years to come. Together, we will continue to advance the cause of educational leadership and shape the future of our dynamic field.
Regards,
Warren Symonds
