Highlights from the 2023 ACEL VIC Awards Ceremony

The Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) VIC Branch recently hosted its annual awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted the field of education in Victoria. Among the esteemed recipients were Deborah Harman, Jane Wilkinson, Murrundindi, Coralee Pratt, and a cohort of exemplary educators honored with ACEL VIC Fellowships.

 

The awards ceremony brought together educators from government, independent, and catholic schools across metropolitan Melbourne and rural and regional Victoria. Thank you to the ACEL VIC Branch Awards Committee members: Annette Rome, Fiona Hutton, and Cameron Patterson, for their efforts in overseeing the 2023 awards and awards ceremony.

 

Deborah Harman was awarded the prestigious Debbie Locco Leadership Award, commemorating the memory and legacy of the inspirational educator, Debbie Locco FACEL (Vic). This accolade celebrates Harman's unwavering dedication and passion, echoing Locco's commitment to nurturing future leaders and fostering optimal educational outcomes.

 

The ACEL Victoria President’s Award was presented to Murrundindi, who has dedicated 38 years to educating Victorian school about ancestral knowledge through song, dance, and language, as well as mentoring educators and promoting Indigenous culture nationwide.

 

ACEL VIC Fellowships were bestowed upon a cohort of distinguished educators, including Sue Buckley, Adrian Camm, Esme Capp, Melissa Etherton, Chris Munro, Anna Negro, Ross Philips, Anthony Raitman, Paul Staniscia, and Loretta Wholley. These individuals exemplify excellence in their respective roles, contributing significantly to educational leadership, policy, and practice.

 

Coralee Pratt was honoured with the Hedley Beare Educator of the Year Award, paying tribute to the remarkable legacy of Professor Hedley Beare in Australian and international education. Pratt's exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to ACEL's objectives and initiatives distinguish her as a true educator, embodying Beare's values and vision.

 

The ACEL VIC Awards underscore the invaluable contributions of these exceptional individuals, highlighting their profound impact on shaping the future of education in Victoria and inspiring others to strive for excellence.
