I hope all members had an excellent break. I am always taken aback by the sheer avalanche of events that seem to occur in non-term time. In this break it was wildfires across at least 3 continents, a new US President (and all that comes with that), the continuation of bitter and horrific armed conflicts and the ebb and flow of one’s own family and friends’ relationships, developments and lives. Is it that there actually are more events in term breaks or is it we have the headspace to notice – I suspect the latter. Either way, I wonder that as educators, we crave for the routine and (somewhat) predictable program of schooling. To that end, I welcome all back to the 2025 school year and hope it is a smooth start for you all.
In ACEL Victoria this year, we are planning events on Character Education, Educational Research, International Engagement, as well as opportunities to update members on developments in Victorian and Australian education more generally.
